Bolton is once again recording the lowest coronavirus infection rate in Greater Manchester after a drop in new situations.
The number of new positive Covid-19 situations had been increasing in early-October across the UK, with Trafford recording the highest infection rate in the country at one point.
However, this has now begun to fall again across Greater Manchester, with Bolton recording the lowest rate of situations in the vicinity.
This is after Bolton was the first borough to see a spike in situations due to the spread of the Delta variant in May.
Surge testing and vaccination was brought in to bring this under control with the town’s infection rate dropping rapidly after this.
Bolton has consistently had the lowest rate in Greater Manchester since then.
In the seven days to October 25, Bolton recorded 833 new positive situations of Covid-19, equalling an infection rate of 289 new situations per 100,000 residents.
This is a fall from the past seven days, to October 18, where the borough recorded 873 new positive situations at a rate of 302.9 per 100,000 residents.
