A security guard who was travelling on the same flight with his partner offered to help the flight attendants which at first was declined, La Razon reports.

However, a few minutes later, he was asked to intervene as the man was threatening to open a door mid-flight.

The security guard managed to control the irate passenger, who was wrestled to the ground before being secured on a seat with the safety belts.

The pilot of the Ryanair flight at one stage had to leave the cabin to help deal with the commotion which was said to have caused panic on board, it is reported.

Police were waiting at Budapest-Ferenc Liszt airport where the man was arrested, it was reported.

The security guard who helped to contain the passenger said it had been his first-ever flight.

The incident happened on November 11 but complete details have only just emerged, together with a video posted on YouTube.

It shows a number of passengers wearing masks standing in the aisle as the commotion goes on around them. Shouting can be heard, together with a flight accompanying calling for calm.
